Calvetti Ferguson, a Texas-based accounting and advisory firm, has announced the acquisition of the CPA firm, Larkin, Ervin, and Shirley, LLP (Larkin-Ervin), for an undisclosed fee.
The deal is in line with Calvetti Ferguson’s recent merger and acquisition (M&A) strategy in Texas, bringing the total number of employees at the firm to 140.
Effective from 1 January 2021, the transaction extends Calvetti Ferguson’s expertise in expatriate tax services, allowing the firm to “address the complex tax needs” of its clients.
Patricia Snyder, tax director at the company, said: “Most Americans living and working abroad are completely unaware they still need to file a US tax return, even if they are paying taxes in the new country.
“There are many tools that can be used to minimize or eliminate double taxation.”
James Larkin, now a partner at Calvetti Ferguson, added that the deal will provide those formerly at Larkin-Ervin with greater access to a “wide array” of services.
He said: “I am pleased to join Calvetti Ferguson’s growing team and continue to advise on expatriate tax services.
“It was an easy choice to transition my clients to Calvetti Ferguson knowing they will continue to receive excellent client service and have access to a wider array of service offerings.”
