PwC and the PwC Charitable Foundation has announced that it will donate $1m to support the Asian community – after the Covid-19 pandemic has led to a rise in anti-Asian attacks.
Both PwC and its foundation will donate $500,000 each to support three organizations fighting for the civil and human rights of the Asian community.
The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Asian Americans Advancing Justice and The ACLU Foundation, can expect to receive the donation – with PwC also pledging to match peoples donations to the organizations.
The firm is also looking to provide additional grants of up to $1,000 for eligible crowdfunders supporting other organizations taking action to support the Asian community.
PwC said: “At PwC, we live our purpose and values not only at work, but also in our communities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve seen a rise in anti-Asian attacks and violence that is appalling and unacceptable.
“As committed allies, we must take action against racism and xenophobia. With this mission in mind, we are contributing more than $1m towards organizations taking action to help eradicate violence and discrimination.”
