The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) has appointed Shelly Weir as its new CEO and president.
Weir is currently senior vice president of Career Development for the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) and its Educational Foundation, managing the strategy of workforce development.
She will assume her role with the FlCPA on April 5, 2021.
W.G. Spoor, chair of the board of directors for the FICPA, said: “We are excited for what the future holds under Shelly’s leadership. She brings a wealth of membership organization success and strategic vision to the FICPA. I believe her leadership and infectious energy are exactly what we need at this time.”
On her appointment, Weir said: “The FICPA has a rich history of advancing the accounting profession in Florida.
“I’m honored to join the team and look forward to building upon the strong foundation in place to further promote the profession, shape public policy, and elevate the competency of our membership.”
