Certified Public Accountants, Janover LLC, has announced that its partner Joseph A. Maffia, has been appointed by The University of the State of New York as a board member to the state board of Public Accountancy.
According to Janover, the role of a state board member is an “integral part” of the office of the professions governing licensed CPA professionals. They advise the regents and the education department of the State of New York on all aspects of professional education, licensing, practice and conduct.
At Janover, Maffia serves as co-chair of the quality control committee, having previously served on the firm’s executive committee.
He also served on the small business advisory committee to the Financial Accounting Standards Board and on the accounting and review services committee of the American Institute of CPAs, helping to “establish compilation and review standards for the profession”.
Maffia, a resident of New York City, has practiced public accounting for nearly 40 years.
