Cherry Bekaert has appointed Michael Cornett as a director of International Tax Services in the firm’s Atlanta office.
Cornett will lead operations for the firm’s international tax consulting practice. Since 1984, he has worked in the federal income sector focusing on international tax issues, and guiding clients in international tax consulting, acquisition and disposition planning, foreign tax credit planning, intellectual property planning, Subpart F and GILTI planning.
During the course of his career, Cornett has worked for major law firms and the national office of the Big Four accounting and consulting firms.
He also served as the Special Counsel to the Associate Chief Counsel (International). The firm added that he also has handled negotiations with the IRS on various international tax matters, including cost sharing arrangements and Competent Authority matters.
