Marks Paneth has announced that Andrew Kubrick, CPA, JD, partner-in-charge of the Long Island office, and Kurt Kiess, CPA, MST, partner and Restaurant Group leader, have been recognized as two of the most powerful people in Long Island accounting by Long Island Business News.
The list honors 25 of the region’s “most esteemed accountants” for their work advising Long Island’s businesses as well as their “significant contributions” to the profession and their communities.
Kubrick leads Marks Paneth’s Long Island Office in Woodbury, NY, and is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Group. In 2020, he was named an Executive Circle Honoree by Long Island Business News for “consistently demonstrating remarkable leadership, expertise and a commitment to community service”.
He also serves on Marks Paneth’s executive committee, which sets policy and strategy for the firm. With “extensive tax and accounting experience and deep understanding of the competitive business landscape”, the firm said Kubrick serves a broad range of clients, including real estate entities, law firms, restaurants, liquor distributors, furniture companies and private foundations.
Kiess has more than 30 years of public accounting experience and provides attest and accounting services to clients in the restaurant, real estate, retail, insurance and manufacturing industries.
He serves on Marks Paneth’s executive committee, which sets policy and strategy for the firm. As the leader of Marks Paneth’s Restaurant Group, he has been a resource to Long Island restaurants as they have navigated the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, advising them on Paycheck Protection Program loans and forgiveness; landlord and tenant relations amid the crisis; employee retention credits; and the new Restaurant Revitalization Fund. He is also an active community member on Long Island.
