HeimLantz CPAs and Advisors has announced the addition of Daniel Russell to the company’s ownership group.
Having joined the group in 2013 as a staff accountant, Russell now acts as the firm’s consulting business unit leader and its inaugural director of business development.
According to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), Russell represents the under 1% of the 660,000 CPAs in the US that are black, and fewer who act as owners at accounting firms.
Russell said that “as a person of color” he is particularly “proud to now be in this leadership position”.
He added: “One of our firm’s core values is [to] innovate to differentiate and I see myself as an example of that core value in action. HeimLantz does not do things similar to other firms. We have created a culture that sets us apart.
“With that in mind, I hope to continue to create exciting opportunities for our team members and our clients. I want the people I work with to be valued as the uniquely talented individuals they are and to feel safe and financially secure while doing so.”
Tommy Lantz, CEO at the company, added: “It is first and foremost an exciting day at HeimLantz to have Dan join the ownership group.
“Dan brings invaluable strategic and leadership skills that will continue to foster a culture of inclusion, change, and innovation at HeimLantz.”
