RSM US LLP has announced that Gil Avnit and Julie Kelly have been appointed as its national media and entertainment sector co-leaders.
In their new roles, Avnit and Kelly will join the firm’s national technology, media and telecom leadership team, and will continue to build RSM’s expertise and footprint across different subsectors within the media and entertainment industry.
Avnit is an audit senior manager who brings more than 13 years of experience of serving middle market companies in the media and technology industries.
He works directly with RSM clients to understand their global needs and provide “value-added, cost-effective” solutions. He also has extensive experience working with private equity firms and their portfolio companies. This experience, coupled with his industry expertise, allows him to “proactively” identify and address the needs of RSM’s clients, according to the firm.
Meanwhile, Kelly is a director in RSM’s transaction advisory services practice. Her background primarily includes working in software, digital media, advertising and marketing, recorded music and music publishing, ecommerce and tech-enabled services.
She has more than 10 years of professional experience providing financial statement audits and advising clients on accounting, finance and business processes for middle market clients, and for the last seven years has focused on providing financial due diligence services.
Her transaction advisory and financial due diligence experience includes identification of key deal issues, quality of earnings analysis, revenue and profitability analysis, working capital and purchase agreement consultation.
Avnit earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Touro College, and Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Steve Ingram, national technology, media and entertainment, and telecom leader with RSM US LL, said: “Gil and Julie each bring tremendous media and entertainment experience to their roles. Their strong leadership, strategic focus and unique industry perspectives are a valuable asset to our professionals, clients and the marketplace.”
Avnit added: “The media and entertainment industry is evolving more quickly than ever – from multi-platform media to streaming services and video gaming and esports. I look forward to co-leading our national team with Julie as we help our clients navigate changes in the industry and guide them to success in this changing environment.”
Kelly concluded: “I’m excited to collaborate with Gil and expand our ongoing media and entertainment strategy to be a first-choice advisor to the middle market. This leadership position is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the success of the firm and provide valuable industry insights to our clients.”
