RSM has announced that it has joined Pledge 1%, a corporate philanthropy movement dedicated to making the community a “key stakeholder” in every business.
Pledge 1% encourages and challenges individuals and companies to pledge 1% of equity, profit, product and/or employee time for their communities.
In addition, it offers companies tools and best practices, making it accessible for any company to “incorporate philanthropy into their business model”.
RSM said that by pledging 1% of its profits it is demonstrating a commitment to “philanthropic leadership”.
Doug Opheim, chief operating officer with RSM, said: “The RSM US Foundation is dedicated to building tomorrow’s middle market business leaders by enhancing educational outcomes and by supporting organizations committed to providing stable environments for youth in the areas of hunger, housing and health.
“We are honored to be able to do this in part by leveraging a portion of our firm’s success to support nonprofits in the communities where our people live and work across the U.S. and in Canada through Pledge 1%.”
Amy Lesnick, chief executive of Pledge 1%, added: “We are incredibly excited that RSM has taken the pledge. RSM can play a pivotal role in building this movement and promoting a new normal in which all companies – big and small – integrate giving back as a core value in their business.”
