FASB strengthens Emerging Issues Task Force

Jack Ciesielski and Brandon Coleman are the task force’s latest members

The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has announced the appointment of Jack Ciesielski and Brandon Coleman to its Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF).

Ciesielski is the founder of R.G. Associates, while Coleman is a partner at Deloitte’s national office for accounting and reporting Services.

The EITF specifically helps the FASB in improving financial reporting through the “identification, discussion, and resolution” of financial accounting issues.

Members for the task force are chosen from a list of FASB stakeholders, which includes users of financial statements, public accounting firms, and preparers of financial statements.

Coleman now fills the seat left by Jeff Nickell, who is also a partner at Deloitte, while Ciesielski occupies a new seat on the EITF.

Hillary Salo, the EITF’s chair and FASB’s technical director, said: “I am pleased to welcome Jack Ciesielski and Brandon Coleman as members of the EITF.

“They both bring to the EITF strong financial reporting backgrounds and diverse professional expertise, which will further enhance our discussions on important financial reporting matters.”

She added: “On behalf of the FASB, I want to thank Jeff Nickell for his exceptional service to the EITF. His input helped the EITF improve financial reporting for those applying accounting standards.”
