BKD CPAs and Advisors’ National Tax Services (NTS) division has appointed Scott Austin as a partner in the firm’s international tax practice.
Austin will lead BKD’s Global Tax Integration (GTI) practice formed in early 2021. The firm said he brings to BKD more than 25 years of experience helping clients understand and solve tax issues related to doing business across borders.
He has assisted clients with tax strategy, planning, compliance, provision, controversy management and understanding the impact of U.S. and foreign tax changes. Austin has served both inbound and outbound clients ranging from the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, food production, energy and service industries.
Having formerly served as a vice president of corporate tax and senior tax counsel for more than 10 years at a listed fortune 500 company, Austin brings “extensive experience” in building and operating a tax department that efficiently provides tax provision, compliance and tax risk management while integrating the tax function with rapidly changing business operations.

Austin has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Missouri State University and a Juris Doctorate in Law from Emory University and has recent experience as an international tax partner in an international firm. He has also served in various leadership capacities with the Kansas City Chapter of Tax Executives Institute, Inc.
